Good VOS Build
Firstly go easy, i'm no expert. Lately i've been using VOS alot. I wanted to make a build where it didn't matter if a monk couldn't cast on me that much. I'm playing in DoA at the moment. This is my build at the moment that i'm playing around with. It's working ok it just needs some tweaking and i thought i'd ask you guys. Any tips? I don't really want to have sopl but it's really handy when i need to get rid of vos or spike heal. But it takes away another scythe attack
I think the set up is something like this: SM 14,EP 11, Myst 12
Using enchant 20% scythe and mixture of radiant and survivor on armour.
[skill]mystic sweep[/skill] [skill]victorious sweep[/skill][skill]vow of silence[/skill][skill]mystic regeneration[/skill][skill]vital boon[/skill][skill]conviction[/skill][skill]signet of pious light[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]

When using VoS you need to limit yourself to 1/4 sec enchants to minimize the downtime in between VoS castings. So vital boon is no good here.. and the combo of that + pious sig is.. meh at best.
I'm slightly worried that you don't need monk support in DoA, of all places. Are you lightbringer rank 154?

I never said i don't use monk support. I said i'm trying to get a build where i don't need it that much. So have you any tips on how i could change it then? I use the pious sig if when i need to get rid of vos in an emergency for any reason and if you use it with boon you get healed for nearly 250 pretty quickly. It's come in handy for me. How can i make it better then. I asked for ways to tweak it and make it better you just said you didn't like it and didn't raise any suggestions.

Ok to stay on topic, let's continue referring to DoA. An OF tank (you can probably find the build on wiki) + a shit load of bonds from the monk, can stay standing with next to no monk healing (but uses his own).
Do you think conviction is going to keep you standing against DoA monsters?
VoS is only useful in farming builds, 'nuff said.

Seriously if you can't contribute anything or suggest anything then don't bother posting. I was asking for tips on how i could make a better build from more experienced dervish players than myself. All you can come up with is " Do you think conviction is going to keep you standing against DoA monsters?" If i did i would be happy and not asking for advice. I don't care if you like or dislike VoS i'm asking for advice off good players.
Anyway if there's anyone who knows how to use VOS effectively in a build in DoA or anywhere even PvP as a magekiller i'd like some advice.

Use OBsidian flesh.. vow of silence will make your monks enable to heal you and you will be unable to keep yourself alive in DoA

Then answer my dam question, because i see no reason to be running VoS in an area where you would most need monks. To be able to survive without monks in general areas (i.e. not 100% physical to be countered with 1 skill: [skill]Physical Resistance[/skill]) you'll need so many defensive skills to account for all the things that can be thrown at you. That will just make you a tank, and useless.
Maybe if you read my posts before getting on your high horse, i did give you advice. Drop vital boon. Drop pious signet. You asked for expert opinions, i gave you one. Wtf is the point in asking for them, then counter with "no i think this skill pwns face" and such, when you yourself stated you're not an expert. You also defended sig of pious after stating in the OP you don't really want it in the build!
I'd recommend picking up another attack skill.. wild blow for example. And as you're now D/W, you could probably use flail as your IAS, as putting HoF up inbetween VoS casts is too long imo.
The most useful VoS would be is if you coupled it with bonds from a monk. That **may** keep you going in DoA, too. But with this you would need huge armour buffs / damage reduction: [skill]Armor Of Earth[/skill] + [skill]Stoneflesh Aura[/skill]. Now you need a quick casting self heal that'll keep you going while VoS is on: [skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill]
Right so you are now specced into earth prayers and earth magic, and have taken 4 skills and a whole other person's bar, in order to survive. You now need mysticism at 12 to keep the energy flowing, but also allow VoS to last it's recharge time (with a 20% ench scythe). Now, with 4 attributes specced, you're damage output will be low. Less scythe mastery + less room for IAS / attack skills = less damage.
Do you see what i mean now?

Thank you,
That is exactly what i was looking for. I don't know why you had to flame initially. I don't know what it is about this forum but some people can't answer a question without being an arse and taking themselves way too serious over a game?
Anyway yes i didn't say "no i think this skill pwns face" or anything even remotely similar to it. I asked for advice and ways to tweak the build. You just said it was "meh at best" (that was an actual qoute not a made up one) and didn't offer any alternatives or choices so i told you why i used it and asked again for advice.
"So have you any tips on how i could change it then? I use the pious sig if when i need to get rid of vos in an emergency for any reason and if you use it with boon you get healed for nearly 250 pretty quickly. It's come in handy for me. How can i make it better then."
Which i don't think is out of order at all or proclaiming to know more than you on the matter.
Try being normal and friendly once in a while, it makes things alot easier and helps to avoid arguments.

Wow, Crazy...Im running basically the same thing and posted about the same time you did...otherwise i would have just added to the thread. I enjoy VoS, i think it takes skill to use appropriately instead of just spamming skills, but it makes the game fun. I hated it in proph, those dragons or what not in the desert that had spell break. Now I can remove it with Pious etc. In my opinion if Yanking Sig of Pious and Vital Boon isnt enough to heal you, with the regen etc something isnt right. I enjoy this build and I guess our numbers are few that use this elite.

Because it takes 2 seconds to do so everytime, and chances are, in GW:EN especially, you'll be interrupted. And you better hope that it doesn't further disable the skill, or there goes your main heal. I'd rather throw up 1/4 sec enchants such as mystic vigor and mystic regen, and be healed whilst attacking for 20 secs.

Actually, VoS might be very useful in many situations in PvE, not necessarily farming only.
I made lot of HM missions with H/H thanks to VoS. e.g. for me, the pain in the ass was Gate of Pain HM with H/H. Even with interrupters I kept on being wiped out by Terrorwebs or Torturewebs. And with VoS, you can solo them and save your party from unnecessary wpie outs.
Few sugestions:
If you're running VoS, you basically take 1/4 cast enchantments, just like Dan said. This is because you can safely cast 1 enchantment when VoS ends and then recast VoS and still having 98% chance of not getting hit by a spell. So your choice should be Mystic Regeneration, Mystic Vigor + maybe Faithful Intervention as a spike rescue. Add a stance like Conviction or Physical Resistance. Finally, get 3 attacks skills - 3 is a MUST for a dervish to have. I'd suggest Victorious Sweep + Mystic Sweep + Wild Blow/Zealous Sweep. If you want to have a VoS-removal, go with Irresistable Sweep. Nice attack, and might save your ass just in time.
Good try, keep up the good work mate
